Nolan is sitting up. YEAH and YIKES!!

Apparently Nolan woke up this morning determined he was going to sit up today.  This morning he was working hard to hold himself up and by this evening he was sitting alone for a few minutes at a time.  

Things are different with the second kid!  One of the big differences is the mindset of the parents.  With the first kid we were sooo excited for every single small developmental step and I know I read all the books and websites so I would know what to expect.  With the second one I don't have time to read because I am running around after the first one.  And though I am very excited for all of Nolan's developmental steps I am NOT ready for them to happen.  I know that kids grow up fast, that it is hard to remember how little they were once, and that it is MUCH easier to control kids before they start moving around.  

We are very excited that our little Nolan is now sitting up and yes we clapped, smiled, praised and took lots of pictures today.  But there is a slight sadness within me that my little baby is starting to grow up.

It's Fall......

The weather is cooling off, it's time for football and the consignment sales have started.  It's Fall!!!  I love Fall. I'm ready for the leaves to start changing and I hope to get to an Auburn game this season.  We want to take the boys to their first game this year.  I would have already gone to one but I can't take the boys without Andrew.  We ran out of diapers for Tyler on Thursday so I told Ty "no more diapers!"  So on Friday I put him in underwear and packed his backpack so full of extra clothes he had to carry his lunch bag. When I picked him up he was in the same clothes!  He also had no accidents today.  We'll see how long this last.  I also went to my favorite consignment sale on Thursday night.  I got Nolan a swing for our swing set.  I put is up on Friday while Nolan was asleep and Tyler really enjoyed it.  So today we all went out to swing and this is what happened.

I've added Lilly Gunn to our prayer list.  She is the newborn baby of some friends of ours from Auburn, Wes and Amanda (Rascoe) Gunn and the niece of James Rascoe.  She was born on Tuesday and as they were getting ready to go home on Thursday Lilly began to go blue.  They examined her and moved her to UAB that night.  She will have heart surgery some time this next week to fix a narrowed aorta.  Please pray for Lilly and this family.  

Visit with the Potvins

Some friends of ours from Tennessee came through B'ham last night on the way to Gulf Shores.  The boys and I were able to meet with them for dinner and hang out for a little bit.  Emily and I hung out a lot when we lived in Maryville.  Lydia is a few months older then Tyler and we always got together for the kids to play.  We have really missed them since we moved.  Though Tyler and Lydia haven't seen each other for over a year they acted liked they remember each other.  We started taking pictures and they started giving each other kisses. 

Lydia wanted to hold Nolan so Tyler got to hold Pierce.  Pierce is about 6 weeks older then Nolan.  Look at those beautiful kids!!!!

He's perfect!!

Nolan is perfect. At least that is what the Doctor said. He had his 4 month appointment on Thursday. He weighs 13.5 pounds and is 25 inches long. The doctor said he looked perfect and that he was the happiest baby he had seen all day. That was until the nurses came back in. One oral vaccine and four shots later Nolan was running a low fever and had a stomach ache. Even when he doesn't feel good he is still such a sweet baby.

Tyler starts school

So it has been a busy week and it is only Wednesday night. I started my job on Tuesday and so far I have enjoyed it. Tyler also started school on Tuesday. He is attending Homewood Day School five mornings a week. He says that he likes school and we believe him. When we went to pick him up on Tuesday he ran and gave us hugs then he told us he wanted to sit back on the wall with his class. When we told him it was time to go he started crying. Then this afternoon when I went to pick him up he ran over to me gave me his backpack and then ran away crying. This is NOT how separation anxiety is supposed to work!! Nolan is going to be in the program 2-3 mornings a week but he hasn't gone yet. I got a cold over the weekend and I gave it to both the boys! So that means I have not had a good nights sleep in a few days, because the boys do not sleep well when they can't breath. Imagine that!! So Nolan has not gone to class yet because he was sick..... and I just didn't want to give him up yet! On top of the new job, school and being sick we have been house hunting. We looked at close to 20 houses in Monday. We made an offer on one last night and found out today that it was accepted. We have been through this process twice before only to be disappointed after the inspection, so we are hoping we'll here good news next week. I'll keep the blog updated.
