BEWARE: Mushroom Leg

I had never heard of this condition but Tyler apparently had it this Saturday after waking from his nap.  He came down from his nap and he didn't look happy.

Me: "What's wrong?"
Ty: "I don't feel good.  My leg is sick"
Me: "What's wrong with you leg?"
Ty (very serious):  "I have mushroom leg."
Me (wondering if I heard him correct):  "Mushroom leg???"
Ty (no longer looking me in the eye): "Mushroom leg"
Me (laughing):  "You have mushroom leg?"
Ty (looking at ground smiling and trying not to laugh): "Mushroom leg, right here."
Me (still laughing):  "What will make it better, do you need a kiss?"
Ty:  "No, I need candy and juice."

Just is case this mysterious condition appears in your house you can now be prepared.

Nolan's Surgery Adventure

Nolan had tubes put in today and everything went very well.  We also had his tongue clipped because it was very tight.  Our pediatrician and a speech pathologist we know both recommended it.  I think the tongue clipping has been hurting him more then the tubes.  The people at Children's South here in B'ham really took care of him this morning.  They even have little bitty hospital gowns, Andrew really wanted to steal it.  Nolan did really well with all of it this morning.  He had no problem going to the nurse and didn't even cry when they took him from me to go back.  Of course this made it easier on me.  He was very cranky when he was waking up but quickly got back to his happy self.

So some of you (Julie) have been asking for a house update.  We are very close to moving in.

Prayers for Nolan

We went to Nolan's nine month appointment today.  He has another ear infection but will still be able to have tubes put in next Tuesday as long as he does not run a fever.  He is on an antibiotic to keep from running a fever.  He is not gaining weight though, in fact he has lost weight since we were there 2 weeks ago.  Since he eats and is very active our pediatrician wants to wait and see if his weight will come up after the surgery.  If it doesn't come up we will have to start looking for other reasons for why he is not gaining weight.  That is scary!

If you could remember Nolan in your prayers this week.  For him to stay healthy for his surgery and also that he will gain weight after the surgery.

Inside Out Day!

Nolan's inside out day.  He has been out in the world as long as he was in me.  Happy nine months, Nolan.  (I stole this idea too, thanks Ashley & Hannah).

He was such a tiny baby, of course he is still tiny for his age.  He has been such a wonderful blessing to our family.  He is growing and changing so fast.  I can see a difference in his face just in the past month.  I can't believe I am going to have to start planning his first birthday soon.

things he does....
crawling everywhere and standing with no hands for short amounts of time

he doesn't wave hello, but he will scrunch up his nose and smile when people tell him hello

he thinks Ty is so funny and will say, bububububu when he sees him

when he is not sick he LOVES to sleep, I can't wait for those tubes! sweet sleep

he likes to eat paper, tissues, basically any wood pulp product

he is cutting some teeth

he loves his stuffed frog and his pacifier

he loves to smile and laugh

Cutest Kids of the Month- January

Here's some background on this post.  While trying to think of what to get our Grandmothers for Christmas I came across an idea in a magazine.  This woman gave her grandmother a certificate to the "Cutest Kid of the Month Club."  Then once a month she sent updated pictures of her son to her grandmother.  So I stole her idea.  For Christmas our Grandmothers each got a certificate to the "Cutest Kids of the Month Club."  These are the pictures they were sent for January.
